EMV Chip Card Online Resources

As the U.S. payments market continues to evolve with the introduction and adoption of EMV chip card capabilities and associated payments, consumer education is crucial to ensuring successful and positive purchase experiences.

Fiserv is a member of the EMV Migration Forum. This independent cross-industry body addresses issues that require cooperation and coordination across the payments space to successfully introduce secure EMV technology in the U.S.

As the U.S. payments market continues to evolve with the introduction and adoption of EMV chip card capabilities and associated payments, consumer education is crucial to ensuring successful and positive purchase experiences. Even if some cardholders don't possess chip cards, they have probably encountered other consumers that use these cards, and are likely to have questions about them.

The EMV Migration Forum launched a consumer-facing website, GoChipCard.com, jointly developed by the EMV Migration Forum and the Payments Security Task (PST) Force.

GoChipCard.com is based on an industry-wide commitment to provide easy-to-use and simple resources, and consistent messages about chip cards and their use. Its primary focus is for consumers, but the site has pages and resources devoted to merchants and issuers as well. The website includes a variety of resources, including work done by the Forum and the Communications & Education Working Committee, such as:

  • The EMV Migration Forum infographic published in December 2014
  • The Recommended Communications Best Practices guide published in February 2015
  • The sample statement and card carrier published in the Recommended Communications Best Practices guide
  • Visit the EMV Connection website to obtain more detailed information for industry stakeholders
